Roblox Thumbnail Size Guide (2026)

The exact Roblox thumbnail size, game icon size, and file limits — 1920x1080 at 16:9, 512x512 icons, under 3MB — straight from Roblox creator documentation.

Last updated: 2026-07-28

The most searched question in Roblox art is not which tool to use — it is what size a Roblox thumbnail should be. Here is every number you need, sourced from Roblox's own creator documentation, plus what each one means in practice.

Experience thumbnail: 1920x1080 (16:9)

The image on your game's detail page. Roblox recommends 16:9, ideally 1920x1080 pixels, so it always displays in high resolution across the site and the app. Key rules:

  • You can feature up to 10 images or videos per experience.
  • Each image should stay under 3MB.
  • Accepted formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .tga and .bmp.
  • Lower-resolution uploads are stretched to fit, which is why 1920x1080 (or a clean multiple of it) is the safe target.

Game icon: 512x512 (1:1)

The square tile players see in search results and the Discover feed. It is a different crop from your thumbnail, not a resized copy — so keep the subject centred and the detail bold enough to survive at icon size. If your thumbnail only works at full 16:9 width, the icon crop will turn to mush.

YouTube cover: 1280x720 (16:9)

If you cut a trailer for your game, YouTube's recommended cover size is 1280x720 pixels. It is the same 16:9 frame as your experience thumbnail, so a single high-resolution render covers both your Roblox game page and your video without re-cropping anything.

Quick reference

| Asset | Size | Ratio | Where it appears | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Experience thumbnail | 1920x1080 px | 16:9 | Game detail page | | Game icon | 512x512 px | 1:1 | Search results, Discover feed | | YouTube cover | 1280x720 px | 16:9 | Video trailer |

Moderation and content rules

Every image you upload is moderated against the Roblox Community Rules before it appears publicly. Original characters and original assets pass cleanly; copyrighted characters and misleading imagery get rejected. This is exactly why every ThumbBlox render is generated from original characters and assets.

Getting a correctly sized thumbnail in one step

ThumbBlox composes every result at 16:9 and renders it at 2K, which downsamples cleanly to 1920x1080 with no cropping and no stretching. Describe your game in one sentence, pick a style, and the output already fits the specs above — ready for the experience page, the icon crop, and a YouTube cover.

Checking the size actually works before you publish

Correct dimensions are the floor, not the finish line. A 1920x1080 export can still vanish once Roblox shrinks it into the home grid next to three dozen other experiences. Run it through the free Roblox thumbnail tester — it drops your image into a real home grid at desktop and mobile scale so you can see what actually survives before the upload.
